Geb.Jäg.Rgt. 297 officer - Heer Infanterie officer's visor cap. Near mint condition. This cap came straight from the grandson of the officer who was fighting against partisans in Croatia in 1944 as a Gebirgsjäger. He served as an infantry officer before he was moved to Gebirgsjäger. Late war cap with white piping. Hand-embroidered visor cap insignia period time attached by hand! Slightly corroded to the wreath badge. Late war chin strap. The strap has opened to one side and needs to get repaired. Silk lining. A "Schellenberg" SONDERKLASSE maker marked celluloid diamond to the grey silk lining. "Ersatz" sweat-band. Not too soft anymore but still absolutely flexible. Minor moth bites. Size 56.
